A Walk Around Port Orleans Riverside

During the Agent Education Program, we had the opportunity to tour Port Orleans Riverside, one of the Moderate resorts.  I'd love to have you join me on this walk around POR!

You enter a beautiful & bright lobby, which provides a great welcome to the resort.

Near the lobby and the main building is Boatwrights, the table service dining location.

As you exit Boatwrights, you are at the docks, a lovely lake that winds its way around POR and its sister resort, Port Orleans French Quarter.  We saw many people strolling along the docks, it was such a beautiful day!

From the boat dock area, you can get a water taxi which runs between POR and Downtown Disney.

As you make your way towards the rooms, you'll pass a beautiful pool and a great adjacent pool bar.

These cute signs help you find your way!

If you like to fish, you can do that right at your resort!

We toured the Alligator Bayou rooms; POR has two sections / types of rooms, Alligator Bayou and the Mansions.  The theming is a bit different in each area.

The rooms are a good size, and are able to sleep 5 due to the pull-out bed under the TV!

We then walked away from the Alligator Bayou rooms, and to the Mansion rooms.

As with everything at Disney World, theming is key and the feelings, sounds and sights change as you move into different areas.  Look at how the landscaping is different at the Mansions; more polished, cleaner lines, etc.

The rooms at the Mansions are the same size as the Alligator Bayou rooms - they just have a different design style.

Also, notice the beds - property wide, Disney World is doing away with the bedspreads (due to cleanliness) and going with a white duvet with a runner on the bed.

After we left the Mansion room, we went to one of the Royal Guest Rooms - these are GORGEOUS!  The story is that each princess visited the rooms, and left a little something of hers behind.  If you stay there, see if you can find the princesses touches!

(Here's one: on the floor is a "magic carpet" from Jasmine!)

One of the greatest features of the Royal Guest Room is the headboard; check out my YouTube channel for a video!  When you turn it on, the back of the headboard lights up with its own fireworks show!  SO COOL!

I really enjoyed Port Orleans Riverside, and have for sure added it to my list of "plan a trip here" resorts!

Have a magical day!

Time for Another Giveaway!

Good morning, everyone!

Hope you're all having a great week.  And guess what?!  It's time for another giveaway!  WOO HOO!

When I was at the Disney Archive's exhibit in Chicago this past weekend, I picked up a few items that I'd like to give away to TWO lucky readers of the blog!  To make things easy, I'll do one contest now, and one next week.

The first prize is....A commemorative pin from the exhibit!

If you'd like to be entered to win the pin, please do only ONE of the following:

* Post a comment on THIS post in the blog, sharing your favorite Disney character, and why!

OR

* Post a comment on the Facebook post for this contest, sharing your favorite Disney character, and why (if you need a link to FB, that is above)!

The contest will run from today through 11:59PM on Monday, April 21st.  I will then use random.org to pick a winner; your comment will be assigned a number based on the chronology of when you commented or posted.

I can't wait to read about everyone's favorite characters!

Have a fantastic, magical weekend!

My Day at the D23 Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit

This weekend, I headed into Chicago to visit the D23 exhibit for of Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives, at the Museum of Science and Industry.  The exhibit has been at the Museum since October but closes in a few weeks, and since I hadn't been yet, I wanted to be sure and get there before it closed.

I am SO glad I went.  It was an incredible exhibit, and as a Disney fan, I was in 7th heaven.

Here are a few pictures from the exhibit; to see more, visit my Facebook page (link above!)

Have a magical day!

Update on Name This Disney Object

Good afternoon everyone!  I hope you've had a nice week, and you're getting ready to enjoy a good weekend!

If you'll recall yesterday, I had a little game for Name this Disney Object.  Facebook group and blog follower Jennifer DiFranco correctly guessed that this was the light fixture in Palo, on the Disney Dream!

(Just in case you forgot what it looked like - here it is again!)

Congratulations on your guess, Jennifer!

And as a thank you - - I want to send you a $10 Disney gift card!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend - have a magical day!

The Savanna View Bunk Bed rooms at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

I just love the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  I love the atmosphere, the ambiance.  And it doesn't hurt that at any point, you can glance out a window and see a giraffe staring at you.

I also love that Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of two (Wilderness Lodge being the other) Disney Resorts where bunk beds are available!   This option is not only fun, but especially great because if you have children who don't want to share a bed, they don't have to!

The great lobby....magnificent!

Here is the room!

This was the view on the balcony - ahh, bliss!!  Can you imagine enjoying your morning coffee on this balcony?  Incredible!

The bathroom is a nice size, and has a double sink which is great for getting ready in the morning.  As is the case in the Disney resorts, the sink area is separate from the shower and toilet, so someone can be in the shower while others are getting ready at the mirror.

It was so great to be at Animal Kingdom Lodge, if only for a few minutes.  I'm headed there in early May for the Expedition Everest 5K, and can't wait to stay there!

A few character pictures from Disney World

I took a few character pictures when I was in Disney World in March ~ one with Sleeping Beauty, my favorite Disney princess, and also with my immortal beloved, Winnie the Pooh.  (Also in the Pooh picture is my fellow Mouse World Travel agent and friend, Ellen!)

With the PhotoPass pictures, you can add borders and graphics before you purchase them, so you can personalize the images!  Fun, huh?!

Have a wonderful day!
