Good morning! Hope you're all doing well. Sorry this post is late; I had tennis lessons this morning and am getting back into the swing of my day.
So today, I see the Dancing with the Stars lineup was announced and, as rumored, Ryan Lochte is going to be on this season's cast.
This post is going to be short because I really want it to open up a discussion amongst my readers. Please comment here, or reply on Facebook.
Do you feel that:
A) ABC should not be rewarding bad behavior, and that by casting Ryan Lochte they are, in a sense, giving him a pass for his behavior in Rio?
OR
B) This could be the 2nd chance that Ryan needs to dig himself out of that hole he's in, and hopefully learn to be a better person.
I am of two minds on this casting, and am very interested in what you all think.
Please comment below, or on Facebook. I will share some of your comments on tomorrow's post.
Thanks, everyone! Have a great day ~
I think it's telling Ryan that no matter what he does, it's okay because the spotlight is where you need to be. I don't think he needs to be a contestant on DWTS. He knew what he was doing, when he did it to shed a bad light on the USA. A mature, responsible adult does NOT do that! He should have been on his best behavior.
ReplyDeleteI think there is more to his story than we know. I wonder if his fellow swimmers involved in the story believe he deserves a second chance?
ReplyDeleteIt's ridiculous that you rewards him for All the lies he has told,a good old White boy,yet they want to crucify Knapp for not standing for the National anthem. I will not be watching this garbage.
ReplyDeleteThank you for asking! I am very disappointed that DWTS has asked him to perform. It is an un-deserved reward. Supposedly we sent our finest representatives to participate in Rio, not just the best athletes, but one would hope the best examples of sportsmanship, honesty, and values. I personally think they should strip him of his medals. While he may have been the fastest, he certainly does not hold the values above and did not represent our country well.
ReplyDeleteI expect that Lochte will be voted off fairly quickly if the public doesn't believe he deserves to be there. Case closed.
ReplyDeleteI was very disappointed seeing he was selected as a contestant. There are much better, more deserving people DWTS could have chosen. I'm all for giving second chances and wanting the best in people but I think it sends a mixed message having him on a very popular forum this soon after his indiscretion. This just doesn't sit well with me.
ReplyDeleteWon't be watching. My opinion is that Ryan embarrassed the USA. He apologized to Rio, but never to USA. I think its a disgrace. Never watch DWTS ever again..
ReplyDeleteAnother privileged white athlete who feels that the rules of conduct do not apply! I am very disappointed in DWTS!
ReplyDeleteHey, it is television. When has anyone ever known them to do what is right and not just right for ratings? He is going to be the person he chooses to be and I suspect the consequences will be felt soon enough. But in real life, what about the guy who only served 3 months in jail after raping a girl behind a dumpster, was sentenced to 6 months and gets out for "good behaviour" so he can have the "college experience". Now there is a travesty.
ReplyDeleteI just find it inappropriate and disappointing that ABC would still include him in their lineup.
ReplyDeleteRyan has devoted a good portion of his life to swimming for the USA and it's sad people will remember the debacle in Rio rather than the number of medals he has won for his country. He was an idiot and then lied about it while watching it play out on a national stage. However, everyone deserves a second chance ... even that knucklehead! Lighten up people.
ReplyDeleteHow come Derek get a former dance teacher, can't understand why he always get a dancer, do he have pictures of the producers. who do the pairing,
