Movie Review: Disney's Frozen

As a semi-regular feature of the blog, I plan on doing review of Disney movies, both animated and live-action.  I was able to catch two of the newest films while on the Disney Magic cruise, so let's first talk about Disney's Frozen!

One of the great features of a Disney cruise is that they show current Disney company movies, free of charge, right on the boat!  I knew that Frozen would be one of the options, so I made myself wait a few weeks to see it and boy, was it worth it.

The basic premise of Frozen follows sisters Anna and Elsa.  Elsa has the power to create winter and after an accident involving Anna, she is encouraged to keep her gift under-wraps.  She and Anna, who were once very close, grow up essentially as strangers until a series of events brings them closer together, making them realize how much they love and need each other.

Frozen also features great supporting characters, like Sven the Reindeer and Olaf, a snowman who dreams about what summer would be like.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this movie.  The story line was wonderful, the characters incredible and the music.  Oh the MUSIC.  As soon as we were home, I downloaded the soundtrack and I've been listening to it 24-7.  If Broadway star Idina Menzel (the voice of Elsa) is not nominated for a Grammy, I would be shocked.  All of the music was amazing but her vocal performance in particular was stellar.

We saw the film with all age groups (7 years old to 70 years old) and with men, women, boys and girls and we all left the theatre saying how much we liked this movie.  No need to take just the kids to this one - make sure the whole family goes to see Frozen.

If you have not made it to your local theatre yet, RUN, don't walk, to this movie.  You'll be glad you did!
