When I left off, we were leaving Tatooine Traders to head for the Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show. We made our way to the back of Hollywood Studios, and I grabbed some pictures as we went along.
| There's no significance to this planter, I just thought it looked pretty. :) |
In this area of the park is the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, a FABULOUS Christmas light display at Hollywood Studios each holiday season. As we stopped for a few minutes before going into the show, I snapped a few pictures of that area, and also caught a tram going by!
Then it was time to walk into the arena, and enter the show! The amphitheater for this attraction is HUGE and so after winding around for what felt like 10 minutes (but in reality was more like 2), we took our seats and got ready to watch the show.
The premise of this attraction is that you're watching the filming of a Hollywood action flick, complete with car chases, getting the bad guy and of course, fire.
The director rides in to oversee the filming; you also meet the other members of the production team, who tell you all about the stunts, how they do them and how they keep everyone safe. It was really interesting getting some insider information on how these scenes are really filmed in the movies we see in the theater.
Ooh, a car chase!
Then we were told there was a special message from...Mater! He was there to introduce his buddy, Lightning McQueen! He backed out of that truck you see in the picture, and we got to see him apprehend "the bad guy" and save the day!
The next portion of the show was the motorcycle chase; they did some pretty cool stunts and jumps.
Yes, you're seeing that right - he's swinging from that thing, onto the Jet Ski. Pretty cool.
Is he gonna make it?!!?
The ensuring gun battle set off the fire!
At this point, about 5 people descended on that man and doused him with fire extinguishers. They then went through the process of getting a stuntman ready for a scene like that, and all the layers of clothes and protective gear they wear so no one gets hurt. Of course, MANY times during the course of the show they remind you to do not this at home, these are trained professionals.
I didn't get any pictures of the final scene because I was watching it too intently. :) Suffice it to say, it's a good ending and nicely wraps up the "movie"!
This is a great attraction to see if you or your family like cars, car chases, and behind-the-scenes tidbits on how Hollywood creates those elaborate car chases.
At this point, we excited the theater and headed toward Hollywood Boulevard - it was a bit chilly and I wanted to buy a sweatshirt.
Next time: We see a real, actual, in the flesh TV star!! Can you guess who?
