Thursday, January 2nd dawned clear and bright, and after eating breakfast and shoving our bags in the cars, we were off to the Port of Miami!
It's only about a 90 minute drive from Fort Myers to Miami, and luckily, traffic was not a problem.
Sadie and I snapped a picture of ourselves to document the start of the trip!
It was a nice, quiet ride; I was able to get a quick nap, and before we knew it, we were there! Welcome to Miami!
(Admit it, you just heard Will Smith singing that song in your head...)
We rounded the corner, and there she was! The Disney Magic!
Checking was a breeze; seriously the fastest DCL check in I've ever had. They were handing out the Navigators for that day, so we sat down to take a look.
(The Navigator is the daily "what's happening on the ship." It tells you the activities, the movies that are showing, etc)
Noah and I then grabbed a picture to send to our mother.
While aunt Wendy checked in cousin Justin for the kid's clubs, we waited by the entrance.
We had some SERIOUS pixie dust for this cruise, because we were Boarding Group 3. I have never had a boarding group number that high.
In short order, the Family Of The Day was allowed onto the ship, and then we only had to wait another few minutes before our boarding group was called!
We made our way to the ship, and saw this guy just hanging out! (Get it, "hanging" out?! I just crack myself up.)
As we were making our way onto the ship, we stopped to get a picture of the whole group. I don't usually buy the pictures they take onboard, as they can get pretty pricey, but this one was so good of each of us that I couldn't resist.
We entered the ship, and they announced, "The Disney Magic welcomes the Miller Family!" I love that, gets me every time!
We were cruising right after the holidays and I didn't expect that the Christmas decorations would still be up....but they were.....and they were GORGEOUS.
Hello, beautiful!
First things first - LUNCH! Time to get the cruise off to a good start. On our way to Cabanas, I grabbed a picture of the deck.....chairs, don't go anywhere. I'll be back in a bit!
The food was good; Justin in particular enjoyed his french fry, which he dubbed a mustache.
After lunch, Wendy, Sadie and I went down to the spa and got ourselves pedicure appointments later that afternoon.
Our rooms weren't quite ready yet, so we wandered around and took a few pictures.
Then, onto Deck 4, my favorite place on any Disney Cruise Line ship. We were treated to this lovely view of Miami.
Keep in mind, back home they were starting to see the Polar Vortex. Yuck. But no snow and ice here - just a gorgeous blue sky.
Next up - time to see our room!
